Is it WRONG or is it RIGHT?

One day it's cool, the next day it's "Oh so wrong". FASHION FAUX PAS! The constantly changing fashion world can potentially make it a bit difficult to make even the most colorful individual look out of place. However, there are certainly a fair share of fashion rules out there that are made to NEVER be broken. For example:

Fanny packs
(I don't care if you're on vacation.)
PLS -pantie line syndrome
(Says... "Look at my big butt.")
Mullets
(Business up front, party in the back!)
Uniboobie
(Two words: GET MEASURED!)
Guy liner
(Save it for the ladies dudes!)
Gaping blouse buttons
(Get over yourself. It's too small!)
Socks with sandals
(Wrong even in the Pacific Northwest.)
Camel toe-ew!
Muffin top
(We don't want to see it.)
and let us not forget...
Mom jeans
(Frump-o-rama!)

Yes, we are taught to be individuals. Yes, we are blessed with fashion freedom. Yes, rules are made to be broken. BUT, if you exercise your fashion freedom by sportin' camel toe causing mom jeans, a fanny pack with your flip up sunglasses and a uniboob up top then watch out HOT Mama, I'm calling the police. Why? Cuz there's nothing HOT about that! End of story.

What Fashion Faux Pas makes you giggle? Me? Aqua socks!
Note: To view any of the above listed fashion blunders just take a trip to Wal Mart!:D

By the way...I'm being featured HERE. If you win I'll help you turn a fashion no no into fashion yes yes. Good luck. AND...if you don't win HERE. Check back cuz I've got something up my own sleeve this week!

It's February...Happy month of {LOVING}!
xoxo
P.S. Check out my weekend find. I can't wait to show you what I'm doing with it. It's from one of my FAVORITE boutiques that just closed their doors (tears). It's her sign. I had to have it. It's HUGE and it's going in my house.

FFF (Fabulous Fashion Friday) Goes Old School

Vintage (adj.): Characterized by excellence, maturity, and enduring appeal; classic.
I am drawn to all things vintage. Vintage has character. Vintage has a story. Vintage has grace and a sense of style. Vintage... What a beautiful definition.

Pyrex Bowls. Beautiful pattern. Beautiful colors. My mom had several pieces of these types of mixing bowls. Back then I thought they were butt ugly. Now, I want them.

These shoes are rockin and THIS store is just cool.

A little owl locket~so darling!

Oh how I wish I still had my Strawberry Shortcake collection.

This (literally) has my babe's name written all over it.

I want this hanging on my shoulder as I walk down the streets of Seattle.

Keep an open eye for all things vintage. I believe vintage brings memories, smiles and secret rays of sunshine. (Click on pics for more info. about some of the products featured.)

P.S. Those roller skates stirred up the memories! I used to love to roller skate. Fourth grade. Milli Vanilli. Couples skate. Josh Nelson. I was in love (so I thought).

Please Oh Please

{click pic for more info.}

Dear Important Nordstrom Worker People,

My name is Mrs. Princess Pookie and I'm fairly certain my life will come to an end if I don't have this dress. You see, I would absolutely be willing to purchase this beautiful fashion work of art but A.) I have completely run out of Nordstrom reward points due to a must-have boot purchase and B.) my Prince Charming would kill me. However, I was wondering if you would be up for a trade? I would be more than happy to wash windows, mop floors, fold clothes, dust displays...you name it. With the exception toilets. I don't do toilets. Not even my own. Wiping up other peoples ickies just might be enough to make me vomit. But, if I can wear industrial strength gloves and a mask this dress just may be worth the risk.

Anyway, call me. My availability is somewhat limited. Maybe on Tuesday between ballet lessons and soccer practice. Oh, and this Friday I have a hair appointment so I for sure won't be available then.

Thank you for considering.

Yours Truly,
Mrs. Princess Pookie

P.S. Okay, if not the dress could I at least have a pomegranate smoothie on the house?

Ah Ha!

Does it get any more girlie than this? (Okay, so the color pink would be the icing on the cake.)
Bows!~Ruffles!~A little Sparkle!
Found these shoes hiding in my closet yesterday. I forgot I had them. It's like having a new pair of shoes all over again.
Assignment: Wear something today that you haven't worn in a long time. If you wear it today then you won't have to throw it out tomorrow.
(You know the closet rule. If you haven't worn it within the last year pitch it!)
Looking for a pair of girlie shoes? Click HERE. I love these. Trust me. These will match a TON of stuff.
Jeans + black T + THOSE shoes= Comfy smokin hot Mama! Pair with false eyelashes and a push up bra...watch out boys!

It's Trendy Tuesday...Do You Dare?

Family Fitness
Exercising!
THIS program is rocking our world. Actually it's kicking our butts and making us cry like babies.:D Start this new trend~try MOVING with your family. However, I recommend finding a bigger space. A poked eye or stepped on toe is common in our house when we do this. Someday we'll have our dream "MOVE" room. Someday....
HAVE FUN. ENJOY LIFE. MOVE.
P.S. HERE'S a little motivation.

This weekend I...

~Shrunk my curtains {GRR!}
~Ripped my house apart for "THE" paint project.
~Got paint in my hair.
~Got paint on my RED coat.
~Got paint on my carpet.
~Got confused by which paint color to actually paint (I'm currently on color #4.)
~Got annoyed when Prince Charming pretended to care about my paint dilemma.
~Stood the babysitter up.
~Bugged Prince Charming when I tried to make a suggestion in HIS garage. (Whoops! I know better!)
~Made crappy apple crisp. Anyone want some?
~Said an inappropriate word when I stubbed my toe.
~Went to Target to Buy Q-tips. Left Target with 5 things I didn't need and no Q-tips. Went back to Target.
~Scolded my children after finding a booger on my bedspread.
~And...started to clean out a closet and never finished.

I suck! Thank goodness for a new week, a new start and that thing called forgiveness.
Make it a GREAT Monday.
P.S. Did anyone pull out their fancy jewels?

Thursday, January 21, 2010

It's FFF (Fabulous Fashion Friday)

Fancy up your wardrobe with some accessories this weekend.

I'm totally digging THIS and THIS
Homework: Pull a pretty jewel out of your jewel box that you haven't worn since your last fancy occasion and wear it this weekend. Even if you're not doing anything fancy. Who says mopping the floor or folding laundry can't be a fancy occasion?

Happy weekend activities everyone!

Drool...

Nice to meet shoe...
If I had $300 to throw at the wind these PERFECT boots would have a Home Sweet Home in my closet. Practical, match all, cushy comfort, seasonless, timeless, gorgeous and did I mention PERFECT?
{Sigh}
Bye bye. Have a nice life. I get to pay for ballet lessons, art class and new basketball shoes instead. Why did I have children again?:D
I love you pretty boots!
xoxo,
Mrs. PP
P.S. I do realize there is more to life than just shoes. It's called handbags. Hee hee!

Because Shoes Matter!

I took this picture at my brother's wedding last summer. After a little photo editing, I framed it and gave a copy to all my nieces and sisters for Christmas. If you are not familiar with photobucket I recommend playing around with it. It's fun!

Shoes...a girl's best friend!
P.S. I'm pretty sure I could conquer the world in a pair of THESE.

It's Trendy Tuesday...Do You Dare?

Here's a trend for ya...

Could someone please notify the home decor retail world (Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ross, etc) that it is REALLY annoying when they put the price stickers on the front. I dare you! Not quite sure the reasoning behind this (anyone know). To me, common sense says place it on the back. GRrr! Thank goodness for the inventor of Goo Gone. Which mine is nowhere to be found...of course. And where might I be hanging a hot pink mirror? Guess!:D

Mission Accomplished!

Hear yea! Hear yea! I would like to make an announcement. My royal castle has officially been completely de-Christmasfied. (Except for one ornament that was hiding. And all the boxes have been put to sleep in the garage-dang! That always happens to me.) Once Christmas is gone this is the time of year I always rearrange my house. So, while hubs was on the phone, Kels and I moved all kinds of furniture. It was fun! And now I have a whole new look without spending a dime. (I'll share pics tomorrow) However, that doesn't keep me from wishing. :D Below you will find all kinds of goodies that I could fill my home with. All these come from Urban Outfitters.

I seriously want THIS poster. I think it's freakin hilarious. I LOVE randomness & personality in a home. Are you matchy matchy-sofa, loveseat, chair all the same? Or a quirky crazy? In my opinion...the quirkier the better! Do a room a favor. Don't place all the furniture flat against the wall. And my number one decorating pet peeve...pictures that are hung too high. Eye level people!
It's Monday! Make it a great one!

It's FFF (Fabulous Fashion Friday)

I enjoy a good makeover! So I had 5 seconds to myself last night and I watched a DVR'd episode of Oprah. The guest was Rita Wilson (totally hot at age 50+ BTW) and she was doing makeovers. GIRLY FUN TIMES! It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful women can be when they take a moment to think about them. Life changing I tell ya. Hair color, a new pair of glasses and a pretty scarf go a LONG way. Anyway, there was this guy on the show who said something I found to be profound:

GET CUTE FOR YOU!

(He was specifically referring to those who stay at home and use the excuse.... I stay at home, who cares.)

Quit pretending. You care! Take 10 extra minutes and GET CUTE FOR YOU today! You will act like a different little lady.

Quick "get cute" ideas:
*Lip gloss
*Ditch the tennis shoes and wear your Sunday shoes
* Put on a bangle...or two
* Hoop earrings
* Kick it up with a cutie headband. I can hook you up here. More stock coming soon. ;D
* Wear a sweater instead of a sweatshirt
*Skirt and boots in place of jeans
*Add a scarf or hat or both!
*Loose the PJ's. Get dressed.
* My favorite~put a smile on.

Click here to see a cute little clip. Enjoy your weekend princesses. Do something cute for you!

Not Yet

Zero progress. But I did try on these two things at Target yesterday. I wanted both. I needed neither. They were cute though! Off to Christmas tree central I go~maybe~still not in the mood.

This is PAINFUL!

I can't. I just can't do it. Save me someone. HELP...I'm drowning. YUCK! I absolutely can't bring myself to take Christmas down. Ya, you heard me right. My house is STILL a winter wonderland with 8 rubber maids hanging out on the sides begging to be filled.

Yep, tree still up.
Wreath on the door.
Lights on the outside.

The other night Lucy plugged the tree in and I quickly unplugged it for fear that someone might see. Mind you, the decor is not still up because I can't let go of the Holiday season. Na, I was over that Dec. 26. I'm just lazy. Totally lazy! And, I also fear what projects will haunt me once all the decor is down and the house looks bare (comparatively speaking).

That's it. I gotta go. I am not allowed to blog until my house has been deChristmasfied. See you in April-KIDDING... I hope.

P.S. Here's your TRENDY TUESDAY! Don't spend too much virtual $$ !

Wishing...

I had a quick moment to browse through Nords ALONE this weekend. That would be me, by myself, no children, zero distractions. Me, in the ZONE and the opportunity to WISH. (If you got your Jan. 2010 Nords catalog most of these items can be found in there. )

Will work for watch! The match all watch. This is the one thing I am determined to get myself. (My $15 Target one I bought last spring is falling apart. Darn!) Anyone need a toilet scrubbed? I'll do it for a mere $99. That's a steal!;D

I think this is the jacket I deserve after my last North Face was stolen a couple months ago. I'm still bitter! Can you blame me? I HATE North Face jacket stealers.

Lime green please. OR blue. Or yellow.
Freakin' killer cute! Cute with skirts. Cute with shorts. Cute with leggings. Cute with your underwear! CUTE! CUTE! CUTE!

OMG (oh my gosh) These are so trendy darling!

Welcome to Miami. I've always wanted to wear a fedora. Perhaps this spring I'll splurge on one. All of these goodies can be found at Nordstrom.com. My reality: I came home with a pair of athletic socks. Happy Wishing!

It's FFF (Fabulous Fashion Friday)

Mum says....
Psycho, crazy lady on the inside & showing it off to the world on the outside=
Fashion disaster. I don't care how great your outfit is!
Psycho, crazy lady on the inside yet remaining CALM on the outside=
A Fashionista. Even in Mom jeans!
Face it, we've all been there. Life is crazy. Keep calm and carry on!
Happy Friday Everyone!
P.S. To have one of these darling little reminders hanging on your wall, click HERE.
Hmm...now what color to get?

RED LIGHT! RED LIGHT!

I attempted trendiness today. I tried on a dress similar to the one pictured above. It took a total of about .2 seconds for me to discover the following:

No way! Get it off! You look like an idiot! Mayday....Mayday!

These dresses are ridiculous. The waistband is up to your boobs (maybe that's a good thing-extra support), the length is just weird w/leggings (which is how I would wear it) and the fullness of the skirt is anything but flattering.

So, no thanks, sayonara, adios, peace out!

Conclusion: Don't waste your time trying one of these beauties on.
To those of you out there who may have already purchased one, TAKE IT BACK...NOW!

Go Go Gadget!

THIS is the coolest gadget ever. Santa brought us one for Christmas. (Kels asked for it:D)

WHY should you get one?
1. Easy to use and more importantly easy to clean.
2. Affordable!
3. Creative cakes....FUN! I wrote my kid's names. That got me the BEST mom ever award.
4. Your kids will nominate you for the BEST mom ever award.
5. Because it's just super duper cool!

My Famous {pan}Cake recipe:
(Okay so it's not "mine", it's Pillsbury but, as far as my kids are concerned, it's mine.)

2 eggs
2 c. buttermilk-the secret ingredient!
1/4 c. oil
1 3/4 c. flour
2 T sugar
2 t baking powder
1 t baking soda
1/2 t salt

Beat eggs. Stir in buttermilk and oil. Add remaining ingredients and stir just until lumps disappear. Delish!

Speaking of Gadgets...Did anyone out there ever watch this cartoon?

It's Trendy Tuesday...Do You Dare?

COLOR! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new Spring 2010 color trends from Pantone. Word on the street (so I read) is the turquoise hue is the 2010 color of the year. CUTE! Finally, colors that are cheery, bright, wearable and oh s0 versatile. Bring on spring people!

Really adoring these two colors! (below)

That means if I buy THIS trench coat that I spied at Target the other day I'll be right in style! I seem to be obsessed with the color yellow around this time of year.
Happy color coding your wardrobe!
